"... again I filled my lungs, then let the air out in
long, unhurried exhalations, and with each breath I whispered to myself in
amazement: I am alive. I am alive. I am alive."

awesome.
ReplyDeleteAha! Nailed it.
ReplyDeleteexactly...always alive...way to kill it, metaphorically
ReplyDeleteI remember reading Alive, written a few years after the crash. Such a terrible ordeal.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great book and its author was approved by and had the cooperation of the survivors. Miracle in the Andes is written by Nando from his point of view, and it really is an entirely different ball of wax. He is so eloquent with his words and the way he illustrates the complex matters of the heart that arise in such an extreme situation. Lots of tears in this book. Not so much with Alive.
